The Internet offers a global marketplace for consumers and businesses. But crooks also recognize the potentials of cyberspace. The same scams that have been conducted by mail and phone can now be found online and in email, and new cyberscams are emerging.
You recently may have been browsing the internet and seen pop-ups on your computer screen telling you that you have a virus on your computer.
These scams will try to charge anywhere from $50.00-$500.00 to remove the fake virus from your machine.
These scams will also ask for information and access, so in any event:
- Do not call the phone number.
- Do not give them credit card information.
- Absolutely do not allow them to have remote access to your machine.
If you see one of these type of messages popup on your screen call Brady’s Business Systems to help resolve the issue. Many times it is as simple as restarting your workstation but a complete scan of the computer should be done to verify there is no other infections or issues prior to using it for business or personal use.
